TReboot was Crystal D's 4th game, and in my eyes it never surpassed Core's TR4, nor was it the culmination of all lessons learned - not by a long shot. High hopes much? Maybe, but I have to be consistent and be as equally discerning as I would for TR. Apparently there is going to be DLC for UC4, but I am still expecting the disc version to be the best of breed, bringing into it a culmination of more intense platforming, frequent and more challenging puzzles, gripping action sequences and of course surpassing UC2 and being comparably similar or longer in gameplay length. The UC4 jungle gameplay trailer looke like it woud be oozing with treasures, so they probably switched off display of treasure locations before showcasing. The UC4 trailers are obviously designed to showcase what is possible, so maybe you can still switch off anything which makes the game less challenging. I mean, in UC4, to guide Nate into standing in the correct position to trigger the mini animation / cinematic where the player loses control for a moment. Maybe this is why UC4 has the triangle PS symbol on objects now viewable from afar as opposed to only when Nate is standing close up. Unless you stand Nate in exactly the correct spot, some cinematics won't trigger (and you have to try your hardest to force them to trigger) while in others you can be nowhere near where you would expect the triggerpoint to be, and Nate progresses to the cinematic way too early. In UC3, I am noticing specifically in that game (as opposed to UC1 and UC2) that there are issues with triggering the next stage in the level. A blatantly obvious rope icon instead of a "walk around and thoroughly inspect the area" for less than obvious vines/overhead monkey bars would be really disappointing. I hope they haven't gone the TR route and overused the rope/grapple at the expense of camoflaged climbable vines, chains, monkey bars. One thing that makes me uneasy is the UC4 rope/grapple icon, although I was initially excited about it. Now that I am keeping an eye out for all the autopilot Nate/scripted moments while replaying UC3, I have been rewatching the trailers so far released for UC4. I am genuinely sorry for this mistake, the misrepresentation of the game and the upset this has caused the development team The buck stops with the editor of the site, so I’m the one apologising.

But none of that changes the fact that we have massively misrepresented a game to our readers, fans of the Uncharted series and the industry who read VG247.

It’s cute to say it’s testament to the skill and beautiful artwork of the Naughty Dog team that we mistook a remastered PS3 game for Uncharted 4. TGS is busy and obviously the majority of signage isn’t in English, but none of that excuses the fact that we seriously ****ed up. We were not aware of this until after the article went live.Īs soon as Sony notified us of our mistake we immediately unpublished the article as it was clearly based on one massive error on our part. We didn’t realise it at the time what we’d played wasn’t Uncharted 4, but the remastered Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, from the recently released Uncharted Collection. On September 30 we published an article titled “Is Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End too formulaic?” based on what we thought was a hands-on session with Uncharted 4 at the Tokyo Game Show. We’d like to apologise to Naughty Dog for a massive mistake we published last month.
